NANOWRIMO

This month I participated in Nanwrimo. It was the third time I participated but the first time I succeeded it making it to the fifty thousand word mark. It's very exciting. In honor of this win, I just wanted to post a comic I did a year go about about NANOWRIMO.

50 shades of WHAT?!

I was at the book store today, in the Scifi/Fantasy section,
when I over heard this little exchange.
I don't know if it was the hesitance of the way the man asked,
or the bluntness of the BAM! employee,
but I almost died laughing right there in front of Tolkien and Martin...
I don't get out much.

The Story of the Very Happy Boy

He was very happy.

I haven't posted in a while and here is why!

I am applying for a Children's Group Design fellowship and to apply one
has to send in their portfolio. I wasn't going to send in my actual portfolio,
so I saw this as an opportunity to do something really special...
because I want this fellowship so bad that it is eating away at my soul!
So, I decided to turn my portfolio into a children's book about
a little Fellow who traveled the world on his little ship.
His destination was the City, where he could learn from the great book makers.

The book was hand-bound, with a dust jacket!

My resume was on the inside flaps.

The cover letter was on the back of the dust jacket

I did three custom illustrations for the book to help tell the story of the little fellow and his ship.

Each blurb continued the story. The one shown below tells
how the little fellow helped seven elves of the
South Pole develop a brand so that they could
compete with the corporate juggernaut known as Santa Claus.

Hipsters

Sketching can be very liberating. Sometimes, you never know what you are going to get when you start.
I don't know where this sketch came from, but I don't regret it either.

Give a Robot a Book...

He will say, "What is that?"
And you will say, "It's a book, dummy!"
Then you will proceed to beat him
over the head with said book for not knowing what a book is. *
"Books Rule!"

•This blog does not condone the beating of people, animals, or robots with books.
You can beat a book with a book, but that seems redundant.

Poor Little Lenny

Ah, the tragedy of childhood... eventually you have to grow up.

Or do you?

COODIES! + 50's courtship

...unless of course she likes that sort of thing, then you are on your own.

I was watching the original Leave It To Beaver. It was the one where Wally liked a girl
but she liked some kid with a mustache (you know, the usual) and I felt inspired to do this.
You know, minus the oppression of women and minorities, the 50's were pretty nifty.
(sidebar: I really can't stand Beaver! If I hear "Well, gee insert name here. I guess..." one more time,
I am going to do something vile... like call a kitten ugly *gasp*)

(Ps. I put up a header yay!)

It's an Illustration Blog ("ugh another one, really?!")

Hello! Welcome to the world of This Seems Sketchy. It isn't very exciting...yet. Look at that lame header. It's just the title of the blog. How can it be an illustration blog with such a stupid header?! Well, I am getting to that!

This blog is exactly what it seems. A place for me to share my illustration with the world! I warn you; it could get a little weird, but that's what makes it more exciting... Don't you think?

If you had happened to stumble on this blog during this time of great emptiness, please come back. I swear, it can only better from here... at least I hope. *insert nervous chuckle here*
